Dear Dr. Freedy:
\J
Last August I sent you some information on our two
manipulators. At the time you were interested in providing an interface
for these products. In that letter, I mentioned my plans to design
and build our own interface.
Since that time, I have found myself totally involved in
mechanical hardware development and have had to put interface
development aside until recently. Now, instead of attempting to
develop an interface entirely in house I am entertaining quotes
from outside firms such as yours.
I understand that you have provided an interface for the
PDP-11 system at Purdue University, for use by their Hand-Eye Group.
The interface we have in mind probably would have many of the same
features as the one you provided.
For the present, we are interested in a plug in system for a
PDP-11/45 with the following main features.
32 channels of 12 bit resolution A/D. (+- 10vdc signal range)
8 TTL level bit output lines
8 channels of 12 bit DACs (+-10 vdc signal range)
Random access of A/D channels (50 micro-secs max. time to access
and read any one channel.)
A couple of status bits with interrupt capability
The data rate is slow enough so as not to require DMA.
The unit must be "stand alone" in the sense that it should
have its own power supply, and shall plug into a PDP-11/45 unibus
with the proper cards provided as part of the system. The analog
signals and TTL bits shall go through a standard connector.
Please let me know whether you are interested in quoting on
an interface of this sort.\.
